Land Rover
EV Conversion Process
At Cotswold Electroworks, we specialise in converting Series and Defenders into fully electric vehicles. Based in the Cotswolds, we combine traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology to deliver a vehicle that’s as practical as it is iconic.

Our Typical Timeline
At CE, we are small and perfectly formed. Our 8-week timeline covers the entire process, from inspection to handover of your cherished Land Rover.
- Week 1: inspection + spec lock
- Week 2–3: strip + fabrication
- Week 4–5: drivetrain + battery install
- Week 6: wiring + software integration
- Week 7: testing + road shakedown
- Week 8: handover + documentation

Inspection
We assess the vehicle’s structural integrity and service all relevant components to ensure it’s ready for electric power.
Preparation
The combustion system is removed, repairs are made, and the chassis is prepped. Meanwhile, the new electric drivetrain is assembled and tested.
Installation
Motor, batteries, and control systems are fitted and wired in. Safety checks are completed before powering up.
Testing & Handover
The vehicle and battery undergoes rigorous testing, DVLA re-registration, and MOT certification — then it’s handed over to its owner. For more information regarding this – read the Behind the Workshop Doors article
